The nature reserve Dhünnaue (Mittlere Dhünn) is located in the municipality of Odenthal in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis . It comprises the course of the Dhünn in four sub-areas on the route from Bergisch Gladbach , district Hoverhof to the city limits of Wermelskirchen, northeast of Altenberg .

Flora and fauna

The habitats listed in Appendix I of the Habitats Directive are alder-ash and softwood alluvial forests , hornbeam -beech forest and common oak-hornbeam forest in the nature reserve . The river lamprey ( Lampetra fluviatilis ), brook lamprey ( Lampetra planeri ) and bullhead ( Cottus gobio ) are protected in the Dhünn according to Annex II of the Habitats Directive .

Fauna-Flora-Habitat (FFH)

A part of the nature reserve is also part of the FFH area Dhünn and Eifgenbach (area number DE-4809-301). These are in particular the banks of the Dhünn between Altenberg and the city limits to Bergisch Gladbach .
