The nature reserve Bechsiefen and Hundberger Siefen (Mittlere Dhünn) is located in the municipality of Odenthal in the Rheinisch-Bergisch district . It extends between Schwarzbroich and Osenau .
description
The area includes a tributary of the Dhünn and its valley system with vegetation of hillside forests, floodplain forests , swamp forest and wet grassland . The brook is formed from the confluence of two headwaters, one of which flows from Schwarzbroich to the north. It begins with peat moss-rich , nutrient - and base-poor swamp forest and some springs outside the area and is dammed up in two small ponds rich in peat moss. Down the stream , the quarry forest changes into a stream- accompanying, springy alder forest , which, with a small interruption by a sieve-like Kerbtal section , fills the entire valley floor. The upper course, which flows in from the southeast from the Bechsiefen, comes from a sewage treatment plant , runs through swelling stream floodplain forest in a Kerbsohlental and finally forms the border between forest and wet grassland.

The protection expulsion has taken place
- for the maintenance and development of near-natural Siefentäler valleys with a species-rich fauna, moss-rich wet forest areas, alluvial forest remains , herb-rich oak , beech and old wood stocks as well as wet and wet meadows,
- to protect, maintain and develop the habitats of endangered plant and animal species (plants, butterflies , reptiles ),
- to protect and maintain the existing wealth of biotope structures and small habitats,
- to preserve the extensively used open valley areas of the brook deepening.
