Schwarzbroich is a district of the Odenthal municipality in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis . The local cemetery is adjacent to the south.

history

The place name Schwarzbroich arose from the family name “Schwarzbart” , who lived in “Bruch” (= swamp). There was nothing but forest around the courtyard. It was a fiefdom . Various mentions go back to the 14th and 15th centuries.

The Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies , Blatt Amt Miselohe , shows that the residential area was categorized as two courtyards in 1715 and was designated Schwarzbruck . Carl Friedrich von Wiebeking names the court on his charter of the Duchy of Berg in 1789 as Schwarzenbroich . It shows that Schwarzbroich was part of Unterodenthal in the Odenthal rulership at that time .

Under the French administration between 1806 and 1813, the rule was dissolved. Schwarzbroich was politically assigned to Mairie Odenthal in the canton of Bensberg . In 1816 the Prussians converted the Mairie to the mayor's office in Odenthal in the Mülheim am Rhein district .

The place is recorded on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 and on the Prussian first survey of 1840 as Schwarzbruch . From the Prussian new recording from 1892 he is on Ordnance Survey regularly as Black Broich recorded.
