Wood is a district in Unterodenthal in the municipality of Odenthal in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis . It is located at the height of the mountain road that leads from Odenthal to Burscheid .

history

Holz was a medieval so-called manor house of the Counts of Berg . In the first written mention of April 22, 1308, it is said that wood was the seat of a court court . This document also shows that there was a feudal estate here that was the seat of the feudal man Tilman von Holz .

A tax list from 1586 shows that the villages were part of the Blecher community in the Odenthal parish.

In the burger stock book , the court court zu Holz is described in more detail around 1690: it was responsible in the offices of Porz , Miselohe and Bornefeld , had a court scholar , seven lay judges and a messenger. A waiter from Schloss Burg was a fiefdom administrator. The following troubled goods belonged to the court: Holz, Erberich , Stragholz , Schickberg , Rölscheid (Bornefeld Office), Eschhausen , (Miselohe Office), Steinbüchel ( Niederblecher , Miselohe Office). Birkhahnenberg (Steinbüchel, Amt Miselohe) and Vetterhennen .

The following Kottgüter also belonged to the court court: Straßen , Erberich, Dülmen and Groneborn .

The Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies , Blatt Amt Miselohe , shows that the residential area was categorized as a courtyard in 1715 and was named Holts . Carl Friedrich von Wiebeking names the court on his charter of the Duchy of Berg in 1789 as Holtz . It shows that at that time wood was part of Unterodenthal in the Odenthal lordship .

Under the French administration between 1806 and 1813, the rule was dissolved. Wood was politically assigned to the Mairie Odenthal in the canton of Bensberg . In 1816 the Prussians converted the Mairie to the mayor's office in Odenthal in the Mülheim am Rhein district .

The place is regularly recorded as wood on the topographical record of the Rhineland from 1824, on the Prussian first record from 1840 and from the Prussian new record from 1892 on on measuring table sheets .
