Kümps is a district in Oberodenthal in the municipality of Odenthal in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis . It is located on Scheurener Strasse east of Altenberg .

history

The place Kümps - the name is derived from Kump meaning deep bowl, hollow - was mentioned as a fief in the middle of the 11th century . The place belonged to the Odenthal farm association . On May 29, 1694 the estate had to pay 4 Albus and 5/6 Heller hereditary interest to the Herzogenhof in Odenthal. The village was part of the Scherf community at that time .

During the War of the Spanish Succession , the Odenthalers also had to make their contributions to national defense. In this context, among other things, an old Gerhardt zu Kumps is listed. He had to provide 12 fascines and 36 stakes .

In 1784 Kümps belonged to the Herzogenhof court .

The Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies , Blatt Amt Miselohe , shows that the residential area was categorized as two courtyards in 1715 and was designated as Küns . Carl Friedrich von Wiebeking names the court on his charter of the Duchy of Berg in 1789 as Kümps . It shows that Kümps was part of Oberodenthal in the Odenthal rulership at that time .

Under the French administration between 1806 and 1813, the rule was dissolved. Kümps was politically assigned to Mairie Odenthal in the canton of Bensberg . In 1816 the Prussians converted the Mairie to the mayor's office in Odenthal in the Mülheim am Rhein district .

The place is regularly recorded as Kümps or without a name on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824, on the Prussian first survey of 1840 and from the Prussian new survey of 1892 on . Ecclesiastically, Kümps belonged to the Catholic parish Odenthal.
