Selbach is a residential area in Unterodenthal in the municipality of Odenthal in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis .

Location and description

Selbach is located on the tributary of the same name of the Scherfbach, east of the center of Odenthal.

history

A surviving tax list from 1586 shows that the village was part of the Dorfhonschaft in the Odenthal parish.

The Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies , Blatt Amt Miselohe , shows that the residential area was categorized as three courtyards in 1715 and was named Seelbach . Carl Friedrich von Wiebeking names the court on his charter of the Duchy of Berg in 1789 as Selbach . It shows that Selbach was part of Unterodenthal in the Odenthal rulership at that time .

Under the French administration between 1806 and 1813 the rule was dissolved and Selbach was politically assigned to the Mairie Odenthal in the canton of Bensberg . In 1816 the Prussians converted the Mairie to the mayor's office in Odenthal in the Mülheim am Rhein district .

The place is recorded on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 and on the Prussian first survey of 1840 as Selbach . From the Prussian new admission in 1892, it is regularly recorded on measuring table sheets as Selbach or without a name.
