Stein is a residential area in Unterodenthal in the municipality of Odenthal in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis .

Location and description

Stein is on the Dhünn north of Odenthal. The village arose around a mill, the stone mill . The street name Mühlenweg is a reminder of this .

history

Already around the year 1000 a mill on the stone was mentioned for the Odenthaler Herrenhof. A mill was built in 1467 by Johann von Quade, lord of Gut Strauweiler . The mill, which is sometimes called Quadenmühle or Quadtmühle , therefore belonged to the possessions of the respective gentlemen on Strauweiler. So it was bequeathed to Adam von Hall along with other farms in 1527.

A surviving tax list from 1586 shows that the village was part of the Dorfhonschaft in the Odenthal parish.

On the Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies , Blatt Amt Miselohe , the living space is marked with mühl in 1715 .

Carl Friedrich von Wiebeking marked the courtship on his charter of the Duchy of Berg in 1789 as a mill. It emerges from it that Stein was part of Unterodenthal in the Odenthal rulership at that time .

Under the French administration between 1806 and 1813 the rule was dissolved and Stein was politically assigned to the Mairie Odenthal in the canton of Bensberg . In 1816 the Prussians converted the Mairie to the mayor's office in Odenthal in the Mülheim am Rhein district .

The place is recorded on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 and on the Prussian first survey of 1840 as stone . From the Prussian new admission in 1892, it is regularly recorded on measuring table sheets as a stone or without a name.

A mill itself was noted in the address book in 1885. Today only traces of the system are left.
