Schallemich is a district in Oberodenthal in the municipality of Odenthal in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis . It is located on Schallemicher Straße halfway between Amtmannscherf and Eikamp .
history
A triangular arrowhead and a fragment of a tip from prehistoric times have been found about 450 m southeast of the present settlement .
The servants of the neighboring manor on Scherfbach lived in Schallemich . This also explains the proper name Schallemich from "skalk" with the meaning of the servant . In a tithe list from 1602, the Underschallenberg estate is listed as part of the Scherf honors .
The Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies , Blatt Amt Miselohe , shows that the residential area was categorized as Vielhof in 1715 and was designated Schallenberg . Carl Friedrich von Wiebeking names the court on his charter of the Duchy of Berg in 1789 as Schallenberg . It shows that at that time, Schallemich was part of Oberodenthal in the Odenthal rulership .
Under the French administration between 1806 and 1813, the rule was dissolved. Schallemich was politically assigned to Mairie Odenthal in the canton of Bensberg . In 1816 the Prussians converted the Mairie to the mayor's office in Odenthal in the Mülheim am Rhein district .
The place is recorded on the topographical recording of the Rhineland from 1824 as Unter Schallmich and on the Prussian first recording from 1840 as Schallemich . From the Prussian new entry in 1892, it is regularly listed on measuring table sheets as Unter Schallemich , Schallemich or without a name.

On the basis of a law of 1811 for the Rhine department , additional elementary schools were set up via the schools in Odenthal and Scheuren that had existed up until then . As a result, a new school came to Schallemich.
Since 1910, the church has belonged to the Herrenstrunden Rectorate, which became an independent parish in 1918.
