Hochscherf is a district in Oberodenthal in the municipality of Odenthal in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis . It lies between Scheuren and Eikamp .

history

The proper name Hochscherf arose from scerio - Latin for Scharmeister - on the height . Hochscherf and Scherf originally belonged together and together formed a manor . During the War of the Spanish Succession , the Odenthalers also had to make their contributions to national defense. In this context, among other things, a "Hochscherffer Halfen" is listed. He had to provide 14  fascines and 12  stakes .

In 1301 the Altenberg Abbey acquired Christian von Hochscherf's farm to run a hospital. It remained in its possession until the monastery was closed.

The Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies , Blatt Amt Miselohe , shows that the residential area was categorized as three courtyards in 1715 and with a. Scherf was designated.

Carl Friedrich von Wiebeking names the court on his charter of the Duchy of Berg in 1789 as H. Scherven . It shows that Hochscherf was part of Oberodenthal in the Odenthal rulership at that time .

Under the French administration between 1806 and 1813, the rule was dissolved and Hochscherf was politically assigned to the Mairie Odenthal in the canton of Bensberg . In 1816 the Prussians converted the Mairie to the mayor's office in Odenthal in the Mülheim am Rhein district .

The place is recorded on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 as Hohen Scherf and on the Prussian first recording from 1840 and from the Prussian new recording from 1892 on measuring table sheets regularly as Hochscherf .
