Location of Farzemich in Odenthal

Farzemich is a residential area in the municipality of Odenthal in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis . It is located on a slope in the Dhünntal between Stein and Menrath .

etymology

Farzemich (from "farstiva, farcia" = the Forest ) takes its name from the earlier Glöbusch adjacent wildbannforst . This led to the current name during the later settlement.

history

The first documentary mention dates back to February 22, 1357. It concerns the obligation of the married couple Hermann Klappert and his wife Goderadis, who were obliged to pay an annuity to the light master in the Altenberg brothers' choir . As a security they pledged the "Farcinberch" house they lived in, which was then declared as the couple's own property .

According to another source, the farm came into the possession of the Altenberg monastery in 1357 through the payment of an annuity and remained in its possession until the monastery was closed.

From the chart of the Duchy of Berg in 1789 by Carl Friedrich von Wiebeking it emerges that Farzemich was part of Unterkirspel (Unterodenthal) in the lordship of Odenthal in the Duchy of Berg at that time .

Under the French administration between 1806 and 1813 the rule was dissolved and Farzemich was politically assigned to the Mairie Odenthal in the canton of Bensberg .

Farzemich was part of the Odenthal mayor's office , which was created in 1816 by the Prussians from the Mairie Odenthal in the Mülheim am Rhein district. The place is recorded on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 and on the Prussian first survey of 1840. From the Prussian new admission in 1892, he is regularly listed as Farzemich on measuring table sheets . Farzemich belongs to the Catholic parish Odenthal and the Evangelical parish Altenberg.
