Oberodenthal is a district with the number 4938 in the municipality of Odenthal in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis .

geography

Oberodenthal lies between Altenberg and the Dhünntalsperre and is an amalgamation of individual hamlets . These include the Odenthal districts of Bömberg , Bömerich , Bülsberg , Busch , Feld , Grimberg , Großgrimberg , Hüttchen , Klasmühle , Kümps , Landwehr , Neschen , Pistershausen , Scheuren and Schmeisig .

history

As an upper parish, Oberodenthal belonged to the Odenthal rule  in the  Duchy of Berg until the 19th century .

From the  Charter of the Duchy of Berg  in 1789 by  Carl Friedrich von Wiebeking  shows that the rule in the areas  Oberkirspel  (upper  parish ) and  Unterkirspel  (lower parish) was divided. After the Duchy of Berg belonged to the Prussian Rhine Province , Oberkirspel formed the village or municipality of Oberodenthal in the mayor's office of Odenthal .

Infrastructure

The facilities in Oberodenthal include the Neschen community elementary school and the Hüttchen Catholic kindergarten. In the district competition Our village has a future , Oberodenthal took first place in October 2011 and in June 2012 came second in the state competition for the Rheinisch-Bergisch district.

Attractions

  • The historic water tower is in Neschen. It was built in 1928. In 1968 the operation was stopped and the tower was left to its fate. In 2005 it was restored by volunteer citizens from Oberodenthal in-house. With reading material inside, an oversized chess board and a bench next door, it now serves as a meeting point in the village.
  • In the district of Hüttchen is the 11th-century Kochshof , in which the Zugvogel - German driving association has its federal seat.

church

The Catholic Church of St. Michael is located in the district of Neschen . It is used by the Catholic parish of St. Mary's Assumption at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Altenberg and the Protestant cathedral community of Altenberg. For cost reasons, she has been looked after by 30 volunteers from Oberodenthal since 2005. The Archdiocese of Cologne recognized this commitment in 2010 with an award and a cash prize.
