Location of Herzogenhof in Odenthal

Herzogenhof is a district in Unterodenthal in the municipality of Odenthal in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis . It is located in the center of Odenthal. Today there is a restaurant here.

history

The Herzogenhof was the first farm in Odenthal after the so-called clearing period between 800 and 1350 as Salhof (= Herrenhof). The Herzogenhof has belonged to the Lords of Hall auf Strauweiler since at least 1507. The first documentary mention that can be found comes from January 20, 1527 ( "on St. Sebastianusabend" ). It is about the legacy of Adam von Hall , who gave his youngest son Adam, among other things, the " Gut Strauweiler including the Herzogenhof , both of which are located on the Dhünn , with all their rights, court courts, interest, tithes, Artland, bushes, meadows, forests, Pastures, fisheries, fittings and accessories are inherited. On June 30, 1568, a court book was created for the Herzogenhof court .

The Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies , Blatt Amt Miselohe , shows that the residential area was categorized as Freyhof in 1715 and was named Herzogenhof .

Carl Friedrich von Wiebeking names the court on his charter of the Duchy of Berg in 1789 as Herzogen Hohe . It emerges from it that Herzogenhof was part of Unterodenthal in the Odenthal rulership at that time .

Under the French administration between 1806 and 1813 the rule was dissolved and Herzogenhof was politically assigned to the Mairie Odenthal in the canton of Bensberg . In 1816 the Prussians converted the Mairie to the mayor's office in Odenthal in the Mülheim am Rhein district .

The place is regularly listed without a name on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824, on the Prussian first survey from 1840 and from the Prussian new survey from 1892 on . He belongs to the Catholic parish of Odenthal.
