Location of Burgwinkel in Odenthal

Burgwinkel was a residential area in Unterodenthal in today's municipality of Odenthal in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis .

Location and description

Burgwinkel was a town on the Klauberg in the Sayn-Wittgenstein Forest. The area is now wooded again.

history

Burgwinkel is mentioned in a document in 1477 in which a Dietrich van Burchwinkel is noted as a seal witness. Burgwinkel belonged to the village dynasty .

The Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies , Blatt Amt Miselohe , proves that the residential area was categorized in 1715 as a village without a church and was designated with Burgwinckel . Carl Friedrich von Wiebeking names the court on his charter of the Duchy of Berg in 1789 as Burgwinkel . It shows that Burgwinkel was part of Unterodenthal in the Odenthal rulership at that time .

Under the French administration between 1806 and 1813, the rule was dissolved and Burgwinkel was politically assigned to Mairie Odenthal in the canton of Bensberg . In 1816 the Prussians converted the Mairie to the mayor's office in Odenthal in the Mülheim am Rhein district .

The place is recorded on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824, on the Prussian first survey of 1840 and the Prussian new survey of 1892 as Burgwinkel . The place is no longer recorded on the table sheet from 1927. Burgwinkel belonged to the Catholic parish Odenthal and the Protestant community of Altenberg .
