Klasmühle , also called Clasmühle in old scripts , is a district in Oberodenthal in the Odenthal municipality in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis .

Location and description

Klasmühle is located in the Scherfbach valley between Steinhaus and Meegen , halfway between Odenthal and Bechen . The former eponymous mill was driven by the Klasmühlenbach .

history

The name Klasmühle was derived from the first name Klas (short form of Klaus or Nikolaus ), so it was a mill that belonged to a Klas .

The first documentary mention comes from November 14th 1347. In the corresponding document Johann Köhler and his son-in-law Gerhard von der Mühle are listed as residents. For the year 1399 we learn that Klasmühle belongs to the Scherf court . The Klas mill was the spell mill of Altenberg . The mill obligation was extended to the honors Breidbach and Scherf in 1479 . At that time, Klasmühle was part of the Scherf family.

In 1539 it is reported that the bailiff von Miselohe , von Steinen , was in possession of the mill " on the water that Scherff called" . This mill was inherited from the ancestors of the bailiff. In 1586 a Johann in der Klaßmüll and a Johann, Halfe in der Klaßmüll are mentioned in the tax list , in 1658 a Thönnis in the Claßmühlen and a Wilhelm in the Claßmühlen are mentioned. The bailiff, in turn, had his seat in the neighboring bailiff .

During the War of the Spanish Succession , the Odenthalers also had to make their contributions to national defense. In this context, among other things, a Peter in the Classmüllen is listed. He had to provide 17  fascines and 51  stakes .

Around 1760 there is talk of the " Knight's seat Scherven including the Ohligsmühl " .

Carl Friedrich von Wiebeking names the court on his charter of the Duchy of Berg in 1789 as Clasmühl . It emerges from it that Klasmühle was part of Oberodenthal in the Odenthal reign at that time .

Under the French administration between 1806 and 1813 the rule was dissolved and Klasmühle was politically assigned to the Mairie Odenthal in the canton of Bensberg . In 1816 the Prussians converted the Mairie to the mayor's office in Odenthal in the Mülheim am Rhein district .

The place is recorded on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 and on the Prussian first survey of 1840 as Clasmuhl . From the Prussian new entry in 1892, it is regularly recorded on measuring table sheets as Klasmühle or without a name.

On April 15, 1876 it was decreed that the children from Clasmühle had to attend school in Schallemich . Since at least 1921 there has been a branch church of the Odenthal parish in Klasmühle, today the Holy Cross Church, built in 1948 .
