history
Bülsberg, originally Bullisberg (from "bol, bult" - "the hill") belonged to the Bergische Honschaft Breidbach in the Middle Ages . For the first time Bülsberg is in a document dated 30 January 1237, at which the goods are enumerated that the Abbey Altenberg , included as a farm Bülsberg mentioned. The entire area around the Bülsberg was already an Altenberg monastery in 1157 . The income register for the years 1499–1502 shows that the Bülsberg estate had to provide haulage services for the abbey.
During the War of the Spanish Succession , the Odenthalers also had to make their contributions to national defense. In this context, a Johann zu Bülsberg is listed among others . He had to provide 12 fascines and 36 stakes . In 1828 Bülsberg had 16 inhabitants.
From the chart of the Duchy of Berg in 1789 by Carl Friedrich von Wiebeking , it can be seen that Bülsberg was part of Oberodenthal in the Odenthal rulership at that time .
Under French administration between 1806 and 1813, the rule was dissolved and Bülsberg was politically assigned to Mairie Odenthal in the canton of Bensberg . In 1816 the Prussians converted the Mairie to the mayor's office in Odenthal in the Mülheim am Rhein district .
The place is recorded on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 and on the Prussian first survey of 1840 as Bülzberg . From the Prussian new admission in 1892, it is regularly listed as Bülsberg on measuring table sheets .
