Großgrimberg also Groß Grimberg or Mönchgrimberg is a district of the municipality of Odenthal in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis . It is north of Hüttchen .

history

The farm is from Forest donations from 1210 and 1259 of the Bergisch Ministerials Pilgrim and Udo von Scherf the Abbey Altenberg accrued. It remained in its possession until the monastery was closed.

With a document dated January 4, 1340, the "wheelwright Lambert von Grimberg, Konrad von Grimberg and his son Friedrich von Grimberg" are identified as residents. In the years 1499–1502, Großgrimberg delivered 6 malter oats, ½ pork, 6 chickens and 100 eggs to Altenberg Abbey per year according to the abbey's income register .

A tax list from 1586 shows that the village was part of the Breidbach community in the Odenthal parish.

The place is recorded on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 and on the Prussian first survey of 1840 as Mönchgrimmberg . From the Prussian new admission in 1892, it is regularly recorded on measuring table sheets as Groß Grimberg or without a name.
