Unterhortenbach was a place of residence in Unterodenthal in today's municipality of Odenthal in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis .

Location and description

Unterhortenbach was on the Hortenbacher Siefen and the Unterhortenbacher dent north of Oberhortenbach . It fell desolate in the second half of the 20th century . It goes back to the knight seat Hortenbach.

etymology

The name Hortenbach is derived from Hertisbach, Herthasbach , after Hertha, the Germanic deity.

history

A tax list from 1586 shows that the village was part of the Breidbach community in the Odenthal parish.

Johann Adolf Wolff Metternich zur Gracht bought the Ober- and Unterhortenbach possessions and the associated fishing rights from Baron Wilhelm von Harff in 1623 . Since then, these goods have been associated with Strauweiler . The Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies , Blatt Amt Miselohe , proves that the living space was categorized as a courtyard in 1715 and with u. Hortenbach was designated. Carl Friedrich von Wiebeking names the court on his charter of the Duchy of Berg in 1789 as Hortenbach . This shows that Unterhortenbach was part of Unterodenthal in the Odenthal rulership at that time .

Under the French administration between 1806 and 1813, the rule was dissolved and Unterhortenbach was politically assigned to Mairie Odenthal in the canton of Bensberg . In 1816 the Prussians converted the Mairie to the mayor's office in Odenthal in the Mülheim am Rhein district .

The place is recorded on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 and on the Prussian first survey of 1840 as Nieder Hortenbach . From the Prussian new entry in 1892, it is regularly recorded on measuring table sheets as Unter Hortenbach or Unterhortenbach , the last time on that of 1964. It is no longer recorded on the map from 1969.
