history

Amtmannscherf, formerly called Scherf or Scherve , was the knight's seat of Scherven's. A Lambert von Scherve is first mentioned in 1216. It is assumed that Scherf is the successor castle of the Motte Wiebershausen in the Scherfbachtal. In the 16th century, after the von Scherven line had no male successor, the knight's seat came through marriage to the Freiherren von Steinen , who were also officials of the Miselohe office - hence the name Amtmannscherf . With the estate there were rights to tithe in Oberodenthal and fishing rights in Scherfbach . In 1771 the fiefdom came to Gelnhausen by marriage to Baron Franz Karl von Forstmeister . In the next generation it also went through marriage to the Freiherr von Weichs -Glan. Amtmannscherf was part of the Scherf Honschaft and seat of the Scherf court in the Middle Ages . In 1399 this included the Eikamp , Höffe , Klasmühle , Meegen , Mutz and Voiswinkel estates .

Carl Friedrich von Wiebeking names the court on his charter of the Duchy of Berg in 1789 as Scherve . It shows that Amtmannscherf was part of Oberkirspel in the Odenthal rulership at that time .

Under the French administration between 1806 and 1813 the rule was dissolved and Scherf was politically assigned to the Mairie Odenthal in the canton of Bensberg . In 1816 the Prussians converted the Mairie to the mayor's office in Odenthal in the Mülheim am Rhein district . In 1830 the castle building was torn down and replaced by a new building that is still preserved today. Parts of the castle walls are still preserved and have been integrated into the construction.

The place is recorded on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 and on the Prussian first survey from 1840 as an Amtmannsscherf . Since the Prussian new admission in 1892, he is regularly listed on the measurement table as an official bureau . The place has always been part of the Catholic parish of Odenthal.
