The name Tempelhof indicates a former property of the Johanniter . The place is recorded on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 as Tempelhof . On the Prussian first photo from 1840, the residential area is recorded without buildings. At this point, buildings can only be seen again from the 1960s. In the southern area of the path, from the Prussian new admission from 1892 onwards, buildings without a name are regularly recorded on measuring table sheets . In the 19th century, the area was part of the municipality of Bechen in the mayor's office in Kürten .
In 1975 the village became part of the Odenthal municipality due to the Cologne Act .
