The nature reserve Pfengstbach is located in the municipality of Odenthal in the Rheinisch-Bergisch district . It extends west from Neschen to the confluence with the Dhünn in Altenberg .
description
The bottom valley of the Pfengstbach consists mostly of grassland with steep, wooded lower slopes . The meandering brook runs in a sandy / gravel bed up to 2 m wide. In some places it is accompanied by wooded banks ( hornbeam , alder and broken willow ). On the lower slope, near-natural stream stretches along the edge of the valley are partly connected to old oak and hornbeam forests rich in herbs and bushes, as well as narrow brook alder forest fringes with near-natural layers of bushes and herbs. In the upper section of the valley, spruce forests extend in parts to the banks or into the floodplain.

- To secure and develop the small-scale changing biotope complexes , consisting of wet and wet meadows , spring corridors and side depths , structure-rich forest fringes and bushes ,
