A corner of the north-western part meets the NSG Homböhl in the north-east ; one of the southeastern part borders on the NSG Wache to the southwest , and in the southeast the southeastern part borders on the NSG Nuhnewiesen . The NSG is part of the European bird sanctuary Medebacher Bucht and one of three sub-areas of the FFH area Nuhnewiesen, Wache and Dreisbachtal (DE 4817-306).

Area description

The NSG is the Dreisbachtal with the Dreisbach and its floodplain . There are grassland areas with hedges, field trees and individual trees. Bird species such as red-backed shrimp and meadow pipit breed in the reserve .

Protection purpose

The NSG is to protect the stream and the floodplain with species inventory. To contribute to the preservation and development of communities and habitats of wild, partly endangered species, animal and plant species. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area was designated as a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”. According to the nature reserve designation, the area was also designated as a nature reserve in order to secure the ecological network Natura 2000 of the EU within the meaning of the Habitats Directive.
