The Siesel nature reserve - sub-area Auf dem Pütte is a 6.5  hectare nature reserve (NSG) northeast of the village of Siesel and the Siesel industrial area in the urban area of Plettenberg in the Märkisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia . The NSG was designated in 1985 by the district council of the Märkisches Kreis with the landscape plan No. 1 (Plettenberg-Herscheid-Neuenrade) . The name was the nature reserve "Auf dem Pütte" in the Lenneschleife near the Siesel district, town of Plettenberg . With the 2nd amendment of the landscape plan No. 1 (Plettenberg-Herscheid-Neuenrade), the NSG was designated again in 2012 and renamed the Siesel nature reserve - Auf dem Pütte sub-area . Only separated by the federal highway 236 (B 236) lies the Siesel nature reserve - Jungfernsprung sub-area to the west . In the south-west, the Siesel nature reserve - the Lenne sub-area - is only 450 m away . While the nature reserve Siesel - sub-area Humme is about 1,000 m southeast.

The area of the nature reserve has been part of the FFH area "Lennealtarm Siesel" (DE-4713-301) with an area of 39 hectares since 2004 .

Area description

The NSG is an arm of the Lenne Am Pütte , which is now connected to the Wiebecke brook and an adjacent oak-hornbeam forest in the floodplain . Endangered amphibians, small mussels and aquatic insects, as well as special aquatic and bank vegetation can be found on the Lenneal arm.

Protection purpose

The nature reserve was designated for the preservation and development of an oxbow lake and an adjacent oak-hornbeam forest and as a habitat for the protection of rare and endangered animal and plant species. As with other nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area became a nature reserve “because of its scenic beauty and uniqueness”.

Under special prohibitions , the landscape plan stated “to use the indigenous forest areas (oak-hornbeam forest) for forestry purposes; the exception is the use of individual logs according to the provisions of the Lower Landscape Authority ”.
