Coordinates: 51 ° 13 ′ 28.5 ″ N , 7 ° 55 ′ 8 ″ E
The nature reserve Siesel - sub-area Humme is a 2.5 hectare nature reserve (NSG) northwest of the village Pasel in the urban area of Plettenberg in the Märkisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia . The NSG was designated in 1985 by the district council of the Märkisches Kreis with the landscape plan No. 1 (Plettenberg-Herscheid-Neuenrade) . The name was the Lenne Altarm nature reserve "Humme" west of the Pasel district, town of Plettenberg . With the 2nd amendment to landscape plan No. 1 (Plettenberg-Herscheid-Neuenrade), the NSG was designated again in 2012 and renamed the Siesel nature reserve - Humme sub-area . The NSG is surrounded in the north by the federal highway 236 (B 236). In the south, the railway separates the Ruhr-Sieg route from the Lenne and the Siesel nature reserve - the Lenne sub-area . The nature reserve Siesel - sub-area Auf dem Pütte is about 1.1 km northwest and the nature reserve Siesel - sub-area Jungfernsprung is about 1 km west.
The area of the nature reserve has been part of the FFH area "Lennealtarm Siesel" (DE-4713-301) with an area of 39 hectares since 2004 .
Area description
The NSG is the Lenneal arm Humme. In the eastern part of the NSG there is the silting old arm with poplar trees. Smaller shallow residual waters are cut off from the actual oxbow lake. Alders with bulge-like roots with raised stilt roots are sometimes found in shallow water areas. The water itself is almost completely covered by the small duckweed during the growing season . The eastern and lower area of the oxbow lake is bordered on one side by an alder stock with dry shrubbery and grassland. Some older white willows stand by the water. These white willow trees, some of which have multiple shoots, have a heavily mossy bark that is populated by lichen. The kingfisher occurs on the oxbow lake .
Protection purpose
The nature reserve was designated for the preservation and development of an oxbow lake, an extensive grassland area in the floodplain area, an alluvial forest and as a habitat for rare and endangered animal and plant species. As with other nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation indicated that the area became a nature reserve “because of its scenic beauty and uniqueness”.
Under special prohibitions , the landscape plan stated “to use the indigenous forest areas (oak-hornbeam forest) for forestry purposes; the exception is the use of individual logs according to the provisions of the Lower Landscape Authority ”.
