Neal Banerjee

Neal Banerjee (* in London , Canada ) is a Canadian opera singer ( tenor ), cellist , composer and conductor .

career

Banerjee first studied piano at the University of Western Ontario , later cello and finally singing. He continued his education with Norman Shetler at the Vienna Conservatory and the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis .

He has worked in the Arnold Schoenberg Choir , the Bayreuth Festival Choir , the Swiss Chamber Choir and the Zürcher Singakademie, among others . As a member of the ensemble, he worked at the Bielefeld Theater and the St. Gallen Theater .

His repertoire includes numerous leading roles in Mozart operas such as Tamino ( Die Zauberflöte ), Ottavio ( Don Giovanni ), Ferrando ( Così fan tutte ), Belfiore ( La finta giardiniera ), Rossini parts and contemporary opera roles as well as early music up to Richard Wagner . As a soloist he took part in sound recordings of the operas Sosarme and Kopernikus, among others . He also performs regularly with works by Johann Sebastian Bach , Georg Friedrich Händel , Joseph Haydn , Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven , Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy , Franz Schubert , Robert Schumann , Johannes Brahms , Benjamin Britten and Arnold Schönberg . Banerjee has made guest appearances in Japan, Italy, Austria and North America, among others.

Spax created the rap opera Aus der Depression for him at the Hanover State Opera . As a member of the baroque ensemble Il complesso barocco , he was involved in numerous sound recordings as a soloist.

Banerjee is a member of the Opera Factory Freiburg .
