Nefer-hotep III. was an Ancient Egyptian King ( Pharaoh ) of the Second Intermediate Period .

classification

The classification of this ruler is uncertain. Jürgen von Beckerath sees him as the ruler of the late 13th dynasty . Kim Ryholt assigns him to the 16th dynasty , which he sees as the Theban dynasty , and assigns him to a king of the Turin royal papyrus , of whom Sechem-Re-s ... can be read on the papyrus (11/3) .

supporting documents

On a stele from the Karnak Temple , the ruler boasts that he is the “head of victorious Thebes ” and that he “raised Thebes again because it was flooded by foreigners”. These seem to be direct allusions to military events in which even Thebes was involved. So far these were mostly associated with the arrival of the Hyksos , but it seems more likely that they have to do with invading Nubians (see Sobeknacht II. ).

The ruler is otherwise only known from a stele made of Gebelein and a block from Elkab , the latter block shows traces of a revision.
