Neil de Silva

Neil de Silva (born November 15, 1969 in Arima ) is a former sprinter from Trinidad and Tobago .

Sports career

At the Commonwealth Games in Auckland in 1990 he was eighth over 100 m and fourth over 200 m . In the 4 x 400 meter relay , he was disqualified in the preliminary run.

In 1991 he was disqualified at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Seville both over 200 m and with the 4 x 400 meter relay of Trinidad and Tobago in the preliminary run.

At the Olympic Games in 1992 he reached the semi-finals over 200 m and was seventh in the 4-by-400-meter relay .

In 1993 he failed at the Indoor World Championships in Toronto over 200 m in the preliminary run and won silver in the 4 x 400 meter relay of Trinidad and Tobago. At the Central America and Caribbean Championships, he won bronze over 200 m. At the World Athletics Championships in Stuttgart , he reached over 400 m , made it to the semifinals and was eliminated in the 4 x 100 meter relay in the preliminary run. At the end of the year he won silver over 400 m at the Central America and Caribbean Games .

At the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria, he was seventh over 400m and won bronze in the 4 x 400 meter relay from Trinidad and Tobago.

In 1995 he won another bronze medal in the 4 x 400 meter relay at the Pan American Games in Mar del Plata . At the World Championships in Gothenburg , he was eliminated over 200 m in the quarter-finals and with the 4 x 100 meter relay in the preliminary run.

At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta he reached the semifinals over 200 m and 400 m .

In 1997 he did not get past the first round at the World Indoor Championships in Paris over 200 m and at the World Championships in Athens over 400 m.

In 1999 he won the 400m bronze medal at the Central American and Caribbean Championships, finished fifth at the Pan American Games in Winnipeg and was disqualified at the World Championships in Seville in the preliminary stages.

At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000, he came over 400 m and in the 4-by-400-meter relay not beyond the heat.
