New Bielefeld – Hanover line
The new Bielefeld – Hanover line is a planned high-speed rail line between the East Westphalian city of Bielefeld and the Lower Saxony state capital Hanover . It is related to the implementation of the Deutschland-Takt , is to run largely along the federal highway 2 and be passable at 300 km / h .
planning
An expert's draft for the Deutschland-Takt from October 2018 envisages a travel time reduction to 31 minutes in long-distance traffic between Hanover and Bielefeld. On March 18, 2019 train agents of the announced federal government , Enak Ferlemann to, that the covenant of Deutsche Bahn funds amounting initially to approximately 1.9 billion euros for a new railway line between Bielefeld and Hannover ( Seelze will provide). Previously, as part of the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan 2030, an expansion or new building with a maximum speed of 230 km / h was planned.
In June 2019 it was planned to conclude a performance agreement on the basic determination and preliminary planning for a 300 km / h variant in the same year .
The project is part of the Act Preparing for Measures Act , which came into force on April 1, 2020 ( Federal Law Gazette I p. 640 ). This law allows the project to be approved by federal law rather than normal administrative procedures. The Lower Saxony state government, whose approval is not required for the project, spoke out against a new construction and in favor of expanding the existing line.
course
It has not yet been officially confirmed whether the new line between Bielefeld Central Station and Herford Station will be removed from the existing line. An extension at the Weser Bridge in Bad Oeynhausen is also being considered in order to speed up trains between Amsterdam and Berlin . The new line is to rejoin the existing line in the area of the Seelze train station . The federal government is examining a route along federal motorway 2, a result of this examination has not yet been published. Strict parallelism will not be possible because of the relief and the wide curve radii required due to the maximum speed . A tunnel under the Weser Mountains in the Rinteln area would be necessary. Current plans that state that the route runs neither through Stadthagen nor through Minden cannot be obtained from the federal government. The developer will be Deutsche Bahn AG. Only when it has formally received the order for planning will these plans be published and brought to the early public participation in accordance with the Measures Act Preparation Act.
Effects
The route and other measures will reduce the travel time from Berlin to Düsseldorf from four hours and 14 minutes today to three hours and 34 minutes. Of the time saved, 18 minutes should be spent on the new line, the other time advantages should be achieved by increasing the top speed between Hamm and Bielefeld and between Wolfsburg and Berlin to 300 km / h.
The Deutschland-Takt rates the acceleration as important, especially for the purpose of reducing the travel time between Hanover and Hamm to under 60 minutes and thus enabling an edge travel time with which helpful connections can be reached in both stations.
