Neuensorg is a district of the Upper Franconian community Weidhausen near Coburg in the Coburg district .

geography

Neuensorg is located about twelve kilometers southeast of Coburg on the northern edge of the Lichtenfels forest , from which the settlement was cleared. The district road CO 11 connects the place with Weidhausen and the LIF 9 with Neuensee .

history

Neuensorg was first mentioned in 1195. The place name probably means 'new place on the edge of the forest'. The forest village in the Lichtenfelser Forst belonged to the Lichtenfels Office and was on the road from Lichtenfels via Schney to Sonnefeld on the border between the Bamberg Monastery and the Principality of Saxony-Coburg . A forest description from 1545 mentions houses in the border town for the first time. The inhabitants lived from forestry. The hamlet was burned down during the Thirty Years War .

In 1698 the Neuensorg had eight houses in addition to the forester's house, six of which were drip houses . The residents of the Kastendorf, all Protestant-Lutheran except for the forester, went to the services of the Protestant-Lutheran parish in Ebersdorf , later to Weidhausen. In 1801 the place had seven houses, four barns and a princely hunter's house. The scope of the Neuensorger Revier was 2849 Bavarian daily works .

In 1791/92 the old forester's house from 1661 was replaced by a one-story new building for 1333 guilders . An increase followed in 1862.

In 1818 Neuensorg belonged to the Obermainkreis and was incorporated into the rural community of Neuensee. From 1819 the parish church of Michelau was responsible for the evangelical citizens. In the second half of the 19th century, basket-making ensured the town's growth. In 1867, when 154 people lived in Neuensorg, a school for Protestant students was opened. In 1875 the village had 183 inhabitants and 36 buildings as well as the school house. In 1877 a new school house was inaugurated, which was given a roof turret with a bell in 1912 and was extended in 1949. In 1897 the volunteer fire brigade was founded.

A cemetery was set up in 1924. In 1925 the village had 302 inhabitants and 54 houses. It belonged to the parish of the Roman Catholic parish church Marktgraitz and the Evangelical Lutheran parish church Michelau . In 1926 the place was connected to the electricity network.

Neuensorg had submitted petitions in 1855, 1892, 1928 and 1946 to become an independent political municipality. On February 15, 1952, Neuensorg was finally spun off from Neuensee as an independent municipality. After the Second World War , the New World settlement came into being.

The community had a local sewer system and mechanical sewage treatment plant built between 1962 and 1966. A central water supply followed from 1968 to 1972. A new school opened in 1964.

Since a connection between Neuensorgs and the community of Michelau was not approved by the government of Upper Franconia, it was incorporated into Weidhausen on January 1, 1978, and was reclassified from the Lichtenfels district to the Coburg district. In 1987 the place had 464 inhabitants and 126 houses with 169 apartments.

Church of the Resurrection

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Resurrection belongs to the Michelau deanery . The planning for the church began in 1958. The architect Herbert Fischer from Schwürbitz designed a nave with a square floor plan and tent roof as well as an attached church tower, which grew from 13.5 meters to 16 meters in height during the construction work. The foundation stone was laid for the church, which cost 140,000 DM, in 1960, and the inauguration took place on November 19, 1961. In 1965 three newly cast bells were hung in the tower, and in 1967 a tower clock was installed.
