The New Zealand Military Ordinariate is a military ordinariate in New Zealand and is responsible for the New Zealand Armed Forces . It provides pastoral care to members of the New Zealand armed forces of Catholic denomination.
history
It was established by Pope Paul VI. Established on October 28, 1976 as a military vicariate . By mutual agreement between the Holy See and New Zealand, the seat of the New Zealand military ordinariate is in Upper Hutt . It was raised to a diocese on July 21, 1986 by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Spirituali militum curae .
