Nguyễn Ngọc Trường Sơn (born February 23, 1990 in Rạch Giá , Vietnam ) is a Vietnamese grandmaster in chess .

In 2000 he won the World Youth Championship in chess in Oropesa del Mar in the U10 age group. At the Chess World Cup 2007 he was eliminated in the first round against Loek van Wely , at the Chess World Cup 2011 he defeated Li Chao in the first round and failed in the second round to Pjotr ​​Swidler . At the 2013 World Chess Cup , he overcame Vladimir Hakobjan in the first round and then eliminated Dmitri Andreikin in the second round . At the 2015 World Chess Cup , he won the first round against Robert Kempiński and was eliminated in the second round against Evgeni Tomaschewski . At the 2017 World Chess Cup he was knocked out in the first round against B. Adhiban and at the 2019 World Chess Cup against Kirill Alexejenko .

With the Vietnamese national team he has so far participated in seven chess Olympiads ( 2006 on the third, 2008 on the first and at the Olympiads in 2010 , 2012 , 2014 , 2016 and 2018 on the second board behind Lê Quang Liêm ). In 2014, he achieved the best result in the individual ranking on the second board.

In the Chinese team championship he played for the Guangdong Huateng Club in 2010 , for the Qingdao School from 2011 to 2015 and for Beijing in 2019 .
