Nickweiler is a district of the local community Nannhausen in the Rhein-Hunsrück district in Rhineland-Palatinate . Nickweiler was an independent community until 1974.

geography

Nickweiler is located at the end of the Biebertal in the middle of the Hunsrück . The village is located directly on the now disused Hunsrückquerbahn between Langenlonsheim and Hermeskeil.

history

Nickweiler was first mentioned in a document from the Ravengiersburg monastery in 1285. It has a rich tradition as the former court of the Augustinian Canons of Ravengiersburg. The Kauerhof, located in the district, is one of the few settlements mentioned when the monastery was founded in 1074.

Until the end of the 18th century the place belonged to the Electoral Palatinate and was the main place of a mayor's workshop in the Oberamt Simmern . Heinzenbach , Raversbeuren and Unzenberg with Göbenhausen also belonged to the Nickweiler Schultheißerei .

After the Left Bank of the Rhine was taken by French revolutionary troops , the community of Nickweiler belonged to the canton of Simmern in the Rhine-Mosel department from 1798 to 1814 . In 1815 the region became part of the Kingdom of Prussia based on the agreements reached at the Congress of Vienna . Under the Prussian administration, Nickweiler came to the Simmern district, created in 1816 in the Koblenz administrative district , which from 1822 belonged to the Rhine Province . Nickweiler was administered by the mayor's office in Ohlweiler . In 1817 the community had a total of 121 inhabitants, the Kauerhof (20), the Cunzenmühle (5) and the Theisenmühle (8) belonged to Nickweiler.

The previously independent community of Nickweiler, with 121 inhabitants at the time, was merged with the community of Nannhausen to form today's local community of Nannhausen on March 17, 1974.
