Niclas Barud (born March 22, 1988 in Kungsbacka ) is a Swedish handball player .

The 1.96 m tall and 105 kg heavy cyclist began playing handball at the Swedish club HK Aranäs . In 2004 the right-hander switched to IK Sävehof with whom he won the Elitserien in 2010, 2011 and 2012 . With Sävehof he also took part in the EHF Cup 2006/07, 2007/08, 2008/09 and 2009/10 as well as the EHF Champions League 2010/11 and 2011/12. From 2012 Barud ran for the Danish club Aalborg Håndbold , with whom he won the championship in 2013 . In the EHF Champions League 2013/14 he qualified for the round of 16. In the summer of 2015 he moved to the German Bundesliga club Frisch Auf Göppingen . With Göppingen he won the EHF Cup in 2016 and 2017. He has been under contract with the Swedish first division club Alingsås HK since the 2017/18 season .

With the Swedish national team Barud took part in the European Championship 2012 and was twelfth. He was in the extended roster for the 2014 European Championship , but was not considered for the final squad. So far, he has played 46 international matches in which he scored 20 goals.

With the Swedish junior selection, Niclas Barud won bronze at the U-18 European Championship in 2006 and the U-19 World Championship in 2007.
