Nicola Förg (born December 13, 1962 in Kempten (Allgäu) ) is a German travel journalist and writer .

Life

Nicola Förg is the daughter of Maximilian Förg (District Director Allianz, †) and Grit Förg (Senior Student Councilor, †). She grew up in Oberstaufen and Kempten in the Allgäu. She graduated from the Hildegardis Gymnasium in Kempten ; traveled to Australia (work & travel) and began studying German and geography at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich in 1983 . At the time she was already designing a city magazine in Kempten and was a freelance radio operator for sports topics. After graduating, Förg worked as an editor for the magazines Traveller`s World and Ski.

From 1991 Förg published as a freelance journalist articles on the topics of travel, tourism and interior design in various magazines and newspapers. Her focus was on winter sports, winter travel as well as horse keeping and riding trips. The country focus mainly in the Alps , Scandinavia , GB / Ireland and Canada . She wrote various travel guides and travel books. She is a committed animal connoisseur and has been responsible for the weekly animal website at Münchner Merkur for 15 years .

With "Schussfahrt" Nicola Förg made her debut in 2002 as an author of crime novels. Her first series of books about Commissioner Gerhard Weinzirl was published by Emons Verlag and was later reprinted by Goldmann. The location of Förg's Weinzirl series was initially her home in the Allgäu, then the Pfaffenwinkel .

The second series started in 2009 with “Death on the Piste”. The series around the two commissioners Irmi Mangold and Kathi Reindl takes place around Garmisch-Partenkirchen , in the Ammergebirge and Ausserfern. The books regularly reach the top ten of the Spiegel bestseller list. The characteristics of the series are well-researched environmental, nature conservation and animal topics such as B. biogas plants, the use of glyphosate, illegal puppy trade, the sale of the Alps.

Nicola Förg has worked on numerous crime anthologies (including Droemer Verlag , Ars Vivendi , Allitera , dtv , Heyne , Piper and many more)

Nicola Förg lives and runs a farm with her husband Lutz Rudat in Prem am Lech in the Weilheim-Schongau district .
