Life

Nicola Vollkommer was born as the second daughter of the British management consultant Roy Edward Sperry and his German wife Hella from Pomerania. She was eighteen months old when she and her parents came to the small African town of Bukuru / Nigeria, where her father worked as the finance director for a British company until 1978. Her childhood and adolescence were strongly influenced by the traumatic experiences of a civil war in Nigeria, which had recently become independent and which culminated in the Biafra War in 1966 . In 1971 she went to an English boarding school and then studied French and German at Girton College in Cambridge . At Hurlach Castle she then attended a discipleship school run by the mission organization Youth with a Mission . In 1981 she returned to Germany for a year abroad to study German, where she met her husband, who was studying biology and chemistry for teaching in Tübingen.

Vollkommer teaches music and English at the Free Evangelical School in Reutlingen. She is the author of several books, children's books and Christian novels. In 2009 she presented her first work with "Eddie". Her autobiography "Under the Flame Tree: where my soul had its nest" is an experience report from her time in Africa. In 2011, “On the Edge of the Frozen World” was published, the story of her uncle, who for years under the most adverse circumstances shared his life with the Eskimos on the northernmost edge of Canada. "Leon and the struggle for the golden heart" is intended to help children deal with the subject of suffering and suffering.

Vollkammer works as a speaker at women's days and at breakfast meetings for women. Once a month she organizes an event for children in the Reutlingen City Library in the series "Story Time - the English reading hour". She became known regionally for her self-composed plays, musicals and children's songs.
