First ascent July 29, 1890 by Ludwig Purtscheller
Normal way From the north via Barrenlesee, western Barreneckscharte and the east ridge ( I )

The Hohe Prijakt ( 3,064  m above sea level ) together with the Niederen Prijakt form a striking double peak in the Austrian state of Tyrol , which when viewed from the west and north represents one of the most beautiful mountain figures in the Schober group . The summit cross was placed on the Lower Prijakt, which is more visible from the valley.

Naming

The name Prijakt appears in documents as Prejock (1774), Briact (1775), Priak (1816), Puriak / Puriock (1859) and Priagg (1874). The name could contain the Roman suffix -occu and be derived from petroccu ( petra : stone).

location

The Hohe Prijakt is located in the west of the Schobergruppe in the municipality of Ainet . In the north it consists of the north pillar and the north-east face, the east ridge of the Hohen Prijakt falls over the Westliche Barrenegg-Scharte ( 2899  m above sea level ) to the Barrenegg ( 2952  m above sea level ), the south-east flank over the Zigat to the Alkuser Lake . The Hohe Prijakt is separated from the Lower Prijakt by the Prijaktscharte on its southeast flank.

Ascent

The easiest ascent to the Hohen Prijakt takes about three hours from the Hochschoberhütte in the direction of the Mirnitzscharte, later in a southeast direction past the Barrenlesee to just below the western Barreneckscharte and finally over the easy east ridge to the summit. The route is marked and free of snow and ice in summer, but requires surefootedness .
