The Niederjochferner is a glacier in the Ötztal Alps that extends from the Similaun in a north-westerly direction. The name Similaunletscher , which is mainly used journalistically, goes back to the latter summit . The glacier has a western and an eastern arm, it is mostly in Austria , part of the western arm is on Italian territory and is part of the Texel Group Nature Park . To the west above the western arm is the Similaunhütte .

The glacier tongue of the glacier, which has receded considerably in recent years, extends down to around 2820  m , the glacier drains over the Niedertalbach , on which the Martin-Busch-Hütte is located, and further from Vent over the Ötztaler Ache .

The small, nameless glacier located further to the west below the Tisenjoch, which became known as the place where the glacier corpse Ötzi was found, was formerly a tribute glacier of the Niederjochferner, but is now separated from it. The Ötzi site is located approx. 70 m northeast of the Ötzi monument.
