economy

There were several mills on the Saidenbach and its tributaries. Around 1930, for example, the Hungersche oil mill was producing 300 to 400 kg of linseed oil a day .

The wooden toy industry was an important employer . In 1894 the company Neubert & Richter was founded here, which was expropriated after the Second World War. The VEB Erzgebirgische Möbel- und Spielwarenfabriken (abbreviation: EMS) formed from this was merged into the VEB United Erzgebirgische Spielwarenwerke Olbernhau in 1966 and this in 1972 into the VEB Kombinat Holzspielwaren VERO Olbernhau . Over 100 employees produced wooden vehicles and dollhouses in particular. The company went into liquidation in 1992.
