Niels van der Vossen (born July 29, 1996 ) is a Dutch ice hockey player who is under contract with the Heerenveen Flyers . Since 2015 he has been playing with the club in the newly founded Belgian-Dutch BeNe League .

Career

Clubs

Niels van der Vossen began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth division of the Heerenveen Flyers , for whose second team he played in the Eerste divisie , the second highest division in the Netherlands, at the age of 15 . In the 2012/13 season he made his first appearances in the honor division . Since 2015 he has been playing with the club in the newly founded Belgian-Dutch BeNe League . In their premiere season he reached the playoff final against HYC Herentals from Belgium with the Flyers , but it was lost. As the best Dutch team, however, the Frisians received the Dutch championship title . In addition, van der Vossen and his team also won the Dutch Beker Cup in 2016 . In 2017 he was able to win both the BeNe League and the Dutch cup competition with the Flyers.

International

In the junior division, van der Vossen took part in the U18 World Championship in 2014 and the U20 World Championship in 2015 and 2016 , when he was captain of the Oranjes, in Division II.

At the World Cup of Division II in 2016 he made his debut for the Dutch national team and was promoted to Division I with it. There he played at the 2017 World Cup .
