Nikola Bibić ( Serbian - Cyrillic Никола Бибић ; born July 17, 1984 in Windsor , Ontario ) is a Serbo - Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Stoney Creek Generals in the Allan Cup Hockey League since 2013 .

Career

Nikola Bibić, who was born in Canada to Serbian parents and has both nationalities, began his career as a hockey player with the Georgetown Raiders in the Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League. Previously, he was drafted in the 13th round of the OHL Priority Selection by the Brampton Battalion in 2000, but was not signed. In 2003/04 he played for the Raiders' league competitor, the Hamilton Red Wings. During his studies, he played three years for the team at the State University of New York in Potsdam , with which he competed in Division III of the National Athletic Association . In 2007 he moved to his parents' Serbian homeland for four years, during which time he played in the Serbian ice hockey league at KHK Roter Stern Belgrade . In 2011 he returned to North America and played there first in the ASHL, where he played for the Office Loosers and the Eagles . Since 2013 he has been playing for the Stoney Creek Generals, whose team captain he has been since 2015, in the Allan Cup Hockey League (ACH). In 2016, 2017 and 2018 he won the league with his team. In 2018, the Generals also won the Allan Cup , the Canadian amateur championship.

International

For Serbia Bibić played for the first time at the 2010 World Cup in Division I, but had to accept relegation there. He then played in the 2011 Division II World Championships , when he provided the most assists in the tournament and was also voted best defender in 2012 , 2014 , 2016 and 2017 .
