Nikolai Pavlovich Chlystow ( Russian: Николай Павлович Хлыстов ; born November 10, 1932 in Vyaschnewka , Ryazan Oblast ; † February 14, 1999 in Moscow ) was a Soviet - Russian ice hockey player .
Career
During his career, the striker played for Krylya Sowetow Moscow and was one of the best strikers in the Soviet Union in the 1950s. With Krylja Sowetow Chlystow was 1951 cup winner and 1957 Soviet champion . He also reached the cup final two more times with his team and was runner-up in 1955, 1956 and 1956. In total, he scored 151 goals in over 250 games in the Soviet league .
International
Chlystow was appointed to the Soviet national ice hockey team at an early age . On January 29, 1954, he was in a game against Finland for the first time for the Sbornaja on the ice.
With the Sbornaja became world champions in 1954 and 1956 and vice world champions in 1955 , 1957 and 1958 . In 1954, after his first world championship title, he was awarded the title of Honored Master of Sports of the USSR . For this achievement he was awarded the Soviet Union Medal of Honor in 1957 . His international career was crowned with a gold medal at the 1956 Winter Olympics .
On November 24, 1959, he played his last international match. For the Soviet national team, he scored a total of 22 goals in 79 international matches.
After the end of his career, he was head coach of the Red October sports club between 1961 and 1964 . In 1996 he was honored with the Russian Order of Merit for the Fatherland , and was posthumously accepted into the Russian Hockey Hall of Fame after his death .
Chlystov died in 1999 and was buried in the Vagankovo Cemetery in Moscow.
