Nikolaus Brauns (* 1971 in Munich ) is a German journalist and historian .

Life

Brauns did his doctorate in Munich on Germany's Red Aid . He has published books and articles on the history of the labor movement in Germany as well as on the history and politics of Turkey , the Kurds and the Middle East . Since 1997 he has been a regular freelancer for the daily newspaper Junge Welt under the name Nick Brauns , whose Bavarian regional office he headed for one year in 2006. Since 2017 he has also been the author of the daily newspaper Yeni Özgür Politika and reports on German-Turkish relations .

In the extended reprint of the 1936 publication The German People Accuses his article Propaganda as a calling (about the communist newspaper maker and publisher Willi Munzenberg ) is printed on pages 383 to 392. He wrote the article on the Red Aid for the Bavarian Historical Lexicon Germany .

Brauns lives and works in Berlin . Since 2007 he has worked there as a research assistant for the domestic political spokeswoman for the left-wing parliamentary group Ulla Jelpke in the German Bundestag . Brauns is non-party.

He is chairman of the Hans Litten -Archiv eV (association for the establishment and promotion of an archive of the solidarity organizations of the workers' and social movements) in Göttingen .
