Nikolaus Hilling

Nikolaus Hilling (born November 27, 1871 in Niederlangen , † August 17, 1960 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German canon lawyer .

Life

He studied in Freiburg im Breisgau and Münster . After ordination to the priesthood in Osnabrück in 1895 and the doctorate The Westphalian Diocesan Synods up to the middle of the 13th century, a contribution to the spiritual constitutional history of the dioceses of Münster, Paderborn, Osnabrück and Minden 1898 for Dr. phil. At the University of Münster he studied law in Berlin and Freiburg (1898–1900) and then worked for two years in pastoral care ( parish administrator in Schwerin , vicar in Sutthausen and parish administrator in Meppen ). According to the Dr. theol. 1902 (The history of the origins of the Münster Archdeaconate) in Münster and Dr. iur. utr. in Freiburg in 1904 he became vicar at St. Johann (Osnabrück) and in the same year pastor of Georgsmarienhütte . From 1906 he taught as a professor of canon law at the Catholic-Theological Faculty in Bonn , in 1918 in Freiburg im Breisgau ( retired in 1937 ). In 1933 Hilling became dean of the theological faculty. On November 27, 1950 he became Dr. iur. can. honoris causa from the University of Munich .
