Bernhard Panzram

Bernhard Panzram (born January 12, 1902 in Eberswalde ; † February 12, 1998 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a Catholic priest, university professor and, as such, also rector of the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg .

Life

Youth and education

He studied in Berlin and Würzburg initially very successful Law and a PhD from the University of Würzburg in 1923 to the time youngest Dr. jur. Germany. In Würzburg he became a member of the Catholic association KDStV Markomannia in the CV . In Breslau he studied theology at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Breslau and was ordained a priest on February 2, 1930 after his alumni . He gained experience in pastoral care as a chaplain in Berlin at the Hedwig Church and in Brandenburg. To the Dr. theol. he obtained his doctorate after further studies. In 1935 and 1939 he received his habilitation from the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Wroclaw in the subjects of Canon Law and Church Legal History.

Teaching

In the summer semester of 1942 Panzram took on the position of professor for church history in the theological faculty of Charles University in Prague , founded in 1348, and held it until May 5, 1945. In September 1945 he came to Bavaria and in 1947 he was appointed to the chair of canon law at the Philosophical-Theological University of Regensburg , which in 1954 was appointed to the chair of canon law at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg i. Br. Followed, where he worked until his retirement in March 1970. When he gave a speech at the foundation festival of a Freiburg CV association in 1964, it was the first official visit of the incumbent rector to a Freiburg corporation in 31 years.

Bernhard Panzram was the papal house prelate and band owner of the Freiburg Catholic Dt. Student associations Wildenstein, Hercynia , Falkenstein and Arminia in the Cartell Association in the CV. He was also a member of the Historical Commission for Silesia .
