Nikon GP-1

The Nikon GP-1 or now the Nikon GP-1A is a GPS receiver from Nikon for recording the geographical position (longitude and latitude) in NMEA format, which is then saved in the Exif data of the image. The option to determine the direction of the camera position is not used.

Technical specifications

The receiver offers 18 SBAS -compatible reception channels. The reception time when switching on is up to 45 seconds. The update rate is every second. The GPS accuracy is 10 m RMS horizontally. The operating temperature is between 0 and 40 degrees Celsius. The weight is 24 g. The receiver does not have its own power supply, it is supplied by the camera's battery.

  • Flashing red - GPS data is not being recorded
  • Flashing green - three satellites could be detected and GPS data is being acquired
  • Green - three or more satellites could be detected and GPS data is being recorded precisely
