The Nikon Df (for D igital f usion ) is a digital SLR camera of the Japanese manufacturer Nikon , available since November, 2013. The target group of the manufacturer are passionate amateur photographers as well as design lovers.
technical features
The camera has a 16 megapixel - full-frame sensor . The Multi-CAM 4800 was installed as the autofocus module. The range of functions was geared towards classic photography. It is the first digital camera from the manufacturer to have a shutter speed dial , as is known from analog photography. On the other hand, many functions such as video recording have been dispensed with. The uncompressed live image can still be recorded via the HDMI connection and an external recording device.
The camera is available in Germany alone as a housing or with the kit lens AF-S Nikkor 50 mm 1: 1.8G SE , which has been adapted to the retro design of the camera.
Appearance
The retro design of the housing of the Nikon Df was based on the classic, analog, earlier cameras of the manufacturer such as the Nikon F3 or Nikon FM models . Like its optical predecessor, the camera is available in two color variants - black and black-silver.
equipment
Flash units
The camera is using the proprietary interface Creative Lighting System compatible and supports CLS -compatible flash units all functions such as i-TTL flash exposure or speed sync . Since the camera does not have a built-in flash unit, an unleashed flash is only possible with a master flash or the SU-800 remote control unit .
In addition, the camera is compatible to various degrees with other Nikon flash units and flash units from other manufacturers.
In addition, the camera has a PC flash sync connection for controlling flash systems .
Lenses
The camera has a folding mechanical aperture coupling lever, which makes it compatible with Nikon lenses from before 1977 that have not been converted to the Ai system. With manual exposure control (setting M ) or automatic aperture control (setting A ), the open aperture measurement can be used with simple camera settings . At the same time, the camera has a digital dial that can be used to set the aperture on G and E lenses (without aperture ring). With very few exceptions, it can be used with all lenses of the Nikon F system from 1959 to the present day , making it the Nikon camera with the most comprehensive compatibility with the F bayonet .
WIRELESS INTERNET ACCESS
A WLAN interface can be added with the WU-1a adapter from the manufacturer's accessory range. Photos can thus be transmitted wirelessly over iOS - and Android - smartphones is also using a suitable app radio remote control of the camera possible.
Accessory interface
The camera has an accessory interface that can be used, for example, to connect a remote release or an external GPS receiver for geotagging the photos inside the camera . Longitude and latitude as well as the height are written directly into the Exif data of the image files. The manufacturer offers the GP-1 GPS receiver for this purpose . Although this does not have a built-in compass, the interface also supports directional information with suitable devices .
