The Nikon D810 is a digital SLR camera from the Japanese manufacturer Nikon , which has been available since July 2014. The manufacturer is aimed at professional photographers.

On February 10, 2015, Nikon presented a modified camera under the type designation D810A , which was specially developed for astrophotography . Thanks to a revised infrared blocking filter, this model has four times the sensitivity for the H-alpha spectral line than its sister model.

technical features

The camera has a 36- megapixel full-format sensor measuring 36 millimeters × 24 millimeters.

As a feature, it does not have an anti-aliasing or low-pass filter in front of the image sensor in order to enable a higher level of detail in the image. With this camera, the manufacturer is pursuing this approach for the first time among its full-frame SLR cameras.

In addition, the manufacturer redeveloped the mirror suspension for this camera and enables an optional, electronic "first shutter curtain" to minimize the shutter vibrations, which can be a reason for image blurring.

With the multifunctional handle MB-D12, the frame rate is increased to 7 frames / s.

Recall of some cameras

According to the manufacturer's notice from July 2014, light spots may appear in the images of some cameras with “long exposure times or an image field setting of 1.2 × (30 × 20)”. The affected serial numbers can be viewed on the manufacturer's website. Affected cameras are serviced by the manufacturer free of charge. In addition, the manufacturer recommends the use of noise suppression for long exposure (in the menu as "Noise suppression for long exposure"), otherwise light spots may still appear in particularly long exposures despite maintenance.
