Career

Nina Bučinel lives in Tržič and starts for the SAK Podljubelj toboggan club. In February 2006 she took part in a junior world championship for the first time in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and finished eighth out of 18 female tobogganists. Since the 2006/2007 season she has competed in the World Cup , where she was the only Slovenian for three years. In her first two World Cup years she mostly achieved positions between eleventh and 14th place, came 13th in the 2006/2007 season and twelfth place in the 2007/2008 season in the overall World Cup. At the Junior European Championship 2007 in St. Sebastian she reached the fifth place, at the Junior World Championship 2008 in Latsch and the Junior European Championship 2009 in Longiarü but only eleventh. In 2007 she started in the Canadian Grande Prairie for the first time at a world championship in the general class, but without much success. In the team competition she came together with Miha Meglič , Borut Kralj and Žiga Pagon on the eighth and last place, in the singles she was disqualified.

At the beginning of the 2008/2009 season , Nina Bučinel achieved her first top 10 result in the World Cup with a tenth place in St. Sebastian. Two more followed at the end of winter when she finished tenth and ninth in Nowouralsk and thus reached tenth place in the overall World Cup - her best overall result to date. Her best result to date in a World Cup race was achieved at the beginning of next winter when she finished eighth in the first race of the 2009/2010 season in Nowouralsk. A tenth place followed in the second race, but then she did not make it into the top 10 and fell back to 13th place in the overall standings. She achieved good success in the championship fights in 2009 and 2010. At the 2009 World Championships in Moos in Passeier , she finished eleventh and eighth place at the 2010 European Championships in St. Sebastian. In doing so, she achieved the best placings that a Slovenian or Yugoslavian natural track tobogganist ever achieved at World or European Championships. At the Junior World Championships 2010 in Deutschnofen , she just missed the medal ranks as fourth.

After the 2009/2010 season, Bučinel has not yet participated in any international tobogganing competitions. In summer she continues to compete in roller luge competitions . In 2006, 2009 and 2010 she won the overall ranking of the Austrian Roller Luge Cup in the junior class.
