Nina Christen (born February 7, 1994 in Stans ) is a Swiss sports shooter . She practices the two rifle disciplines of small-bore and air rifle shooting . She is a member of the Swiss Shooting national team.

biography

Nina Christen comes from a shooting family and grew up in Wolfenschiessen . She has been shooting since 2006 and has been taking part in competitions since 2011. After graduating from high school in 2014 and doing top sport RS , she was employed by the Swiss Army as a temporary military officer . At the 2016 Summer Olympics , she qualified in the 50m small-bore three-position fight for the final of the eight best shooters and took sixth place. In 2016 she began studying biology, which she interrupted in order to pursue a top-class sports career.

In March 2019, Christians celebrated their first World Cup victory. As a member of the army, she also took part in the World Military Games in Wuhan in 2019 .

At the 2020 Summer Olympics , which were held in the summer of 2021 , she advanced from 7th to 3rd in the final of the 10 m air rifle shooting , winning the first medal of the Swiss delegation in the first decision of these games. A week later she won the gold medal in the small-bore three-position battle with a new Olympic record ; after kneeling and prone shooting, she was still in 5th place, but then passed all competitors in standing shooting.

Nina Christen lives in Immensee and Wolfenschiessen and trains in the sports center in Magglingen . She is supervised by sports psychologist Jörg Wetzel, among others.
