Nizhneye Kazanishche belongs to the Buinakski Rajon and is located about 6 km southeast of its administrative center Buinaksk . The village is the seat and only locality of the rural community (selskoje posselenije) Selo Nizhneye Kazanishche. It consists of the (unofficial) districts of Basseinaul, Betaul, Temenaul and Tschorgalar, which are some distance from each other.

history

The Kumyk village, known for several hundred years, at least since the end of the 16th century, played a role at the beginning of the 19th century, when the headquarters of the Russian general Alexei Yermolov was temporarily located there in the run-up to and the first period of the Caucasus War from 1817 to 1864 . Around 1830 it lost its military importance to the nearby Temir-Chan-Shura, today's Buinaksk, where a Russian fortress was built. In 1843 the village was in the hands of Imam Shamil's troops for a good month .

In the following years the village remained relatively insignificant for a long time. From 1952 to 1954 it was briefly the administrative seat of the Buinakski rajon. From the 1970s, as a de facto suburb of Buinaksk, its population increased several times.
