Nora Steen

Nora Steen (* 1976 in Braunschweig ) is a Protestant pastor . She became known as the speaker of the Word for Sunday and preacher in the closing service of the 35th Evangelical Church Congress in Stuttgart.

Life

After graduating from high school in Braunschweig , she worked as part of a social year in southern India and then studied Protestant theology in Leipzig , Berlin and Göttingen . Steen wrote her thesis on the Second Theological Examination about the long-term effects of traumatic stress in former war children. Besides studying Steen at the Open University Hagen law .

After the ecclesiastical vicariate in Hameln, she worked as a director of studies at the Ecumenical Institute Bossey near Geneva with a focus on intercultural dialogue . From 2007 to 2010 she was managing director of the "Michaelis2010" cultural year, the 1000th anniversary of the World Heritage Church of St. Michaelis in Hildesheim. Then she headed the "House of Silence" in the Protestant monastery in Wülfinghausen near Springe. Her theology is shaped by political as well as spiritual influences and she represents a more "sensual" belief. At the 35th German Evangelical Church Congress in Stuttgart , she gave the final sermon on King Solomon , who wanted a “heart that could hear ” ( 1 Kings 3.5-14  EU ).

Nora Steen has been working with the Spiritual Consulting company of Pastors Ralf Reuter and Peer-Detlev Schladebusch from Hanover since 2013 . There she works in coaching, pastoral support for executives and in the implementation of "time outs". In the 2014/2015 school year she was a teacher at the Andreanum grammar school, where she was also a school pastor.

Steen lived with her husband and two daughters in Lisbon until mid-2018, where she and her husband looked after the German Evangelical Church Congregation. Since August 2018 she has been the theological director of the Christian Jensen College of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany in Breklum .

Since 2009, Steen has been known to a wider public for her work as the spokesperson for morning radio devotions broadcast on NDR Kultur and NDR Info . Since 2011, Steen has also been speaking on television Das Wort zum Sonntag on Das Erste .
